WARNING: This is a nail-free post.
So, as I mentioned last post, I had to cut all my nails down to almost nothing. A couple of them were badly damaged by poorly removed falsies, so I thought it was time to give them a rest. On the plus side, while my nails are short, it’s a lot easier to get stuff done around the house, because I’m not terrfied of breaking them!
I’ve been meaning to sort out my nail station for a while. Until now, I’ve been storing my polish tower in my bedroom, my new stock on my side table and have been doing all my manicures hunched over my coffee table. Definitely not optimal, so I decided to put it all in one place, in my living room.
Here’s what it looked like before:
I know, I have a LOT of clutter (yes, that is a fishtank wearing a top hat up there). Anyway, I moved everything out; the bookshelf is now on the other side of the room, and I moved a small desk and my polish tower into the space left behind. Here’s what it looks like now:
Neat, huh? It’s not totally finished, but it’s great having a little spot to do my nails properly. I’m picking up a kneeling stool from a friend this week, and I would like to get a couple of shelves and maybe some artwork for the back wall. I’ll have plenty of time to make it perfect while I wait for my nails to grow back, and I’m also giving up buying any manicure supplies for Lent. I need to go a bit easy on my wallet for a while anyway, and my stockpile of polishes to be swatched is already enormous!
Hope you’ve enjoyed this little glimpse into my sanctum. Here’s a bonus pic with one of my cats checking out the new perching spot. Have a great week!
Yep, my nails are a mess again. They started peeling in new and shitty ways a few days ago, so I’ve had to snip them right down to nothing, yet again, and will be spending the next week or two being very nice to them with various creams and treatments. I have a frustratingly long list of things I’m dying to play with and now I have to wait even longer. Argh!
When I come back, I’ve got Butter London, Color Club, Kleancolor, Konad stamping and much more to show you. Hopefully I won’t be gone too long… be good!
I’ll be taking a little break from the blog for a week or two, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I’m going through some fairly hardcore personal shit at the moment, and I’m lacking the required enthusiasm to gush about cosmetics. It’ll pass, but I’m taking a back seat from a lot of things just to let my head catch up. Secondly, I broke a few nails, and they look like crap as a result, so I’ve cut them all down to the snub for a chance to recover. And lastly, the weather is making my polishes all gooey, so doing anything with them is frustrating and messy anyway.
Anyway, I’ll be back at some stage. Behave yourselves while I’m gone!
Sorry, no new nails today. My dotticure from the weekend is holding up surprisingly well, and it’s just so pretty that I’m going to leave it on for as long as I can, which is good, as I’m waiting on 11 polishes to show up from various places around the web and the world. I ordered my first polish from Llarowe early this morning along with a handful of things from eBay, plus my Born Pretty holos which still haven’t arrived. I’m trying not to be impatient as I know they’re coming from lands afar, but dammit, I want my shinies! I’m now placing myself on a purchase embargo until everything has arrived. I suspect this will drive me up the wall, but I must resist.
I also picked up some paper hole reinforcers, as I’ve been told they function well as a template for a half-moon manicure, something I’ve been aching to try out for a while now. I’m also going to have a go at some colour blocking and maybe if I’m feeling brave (and messy), water marbling. It’ll keep me busy, that’s for sure!
No new nails today. The black holo sadly had to come off late last night as I managed to drunkenly chip several nails and break my thumbnail right down to the skin. Woe is me! Anyway, as a result, I’m giving my poor battered nails a break today.
However, I bring good things nonetheless: The July issues are out and there are 2 UK magazines giving away free polishes! First up, Harper’s Bazaar are offering a free Leighton Denny polish and top coat from the Gelato collection. And secondly, Marie Claire are offering a Ciaté mini polish and caviar set. Both brands are worth picking up at such a discount, and even if you’re not a fan of women’s glossy mags, they can be really handy for picking up nail inspiration.
Also, while we’re on the topic of bargains, Boots are still offering Buy One Get The Second Half Price on all Maybelline cosmetics. Regular readers of my twitter feed will know I am a massive fan of the Maybelline Color Show range, and many stores still have the limited edition Polka Dots collection in stock, so run and grab them for mere pennies while supplies last!
