Well, I’m almost back from my hiatus, though I’m still not doing anything interesting with my nails as it’s still too hot and they are still too stubby and I am still a bit weepy and useless. Boo!
However, today I bring you my latest bargain haul, courtesy of my local Poundland. I got a tipoff a few days ago (thanks D!) that they had some OPI Shatter polishes in stock, so I popped down today, and boy, did I get lucky…
L to R: Sally Hansen Virtual Violet and Plum Power, OPI Shatter in Black, Gold and Shatter The Scales.
Yes, these are full, brand new bottles of Sally Hansen and OPI for just a pound each; these polishes normally retail for up to £8 a go. So if you’re in the UK, get your butt down to your nearest Poundland and see if you can grab yourself some bargain beauties! Add these to the bottle of Jack The Lad by Butter London I picked up from my local TKMaxx for £4 the other day, and it has been quite the week for fantastic finds. Phew, it almost makes me feel better about the weather and all the drama round here lately… well, almost.
I hope to be back with some new swatches within the next week or so. Take it easy!
Well, so much for my embargo. I knew it wouldn’t last long, but two of my eBay polishes turned up this morning, and I just happened to be in Boots with time to kill (waiting for disappearing medication to show up – fun). On the plus side, I had a voucher for half price No7, and everything else in there is Buy One Get The 2nd Half Price at the moment, which softened the blow somewhat. My dotticure is still standing the test of time, day 4 now and have only had to do minor tip repair on one nail. Go me!
L-R: China Glaze – Smoke & Ashes, China Glaze – Wagon Trail, No7 – Stonewash, Barry M – Key Lime, Rimmel – Out Of The Blue
No new nails today. The black holo sadly had to come off late last night as I managed to drunkenly chip several nails and break my thumbnail right down to the skin. Woe is me! Anyway, as a result, I’m giving my poor battered nails a break today.
However, I bring good things nonetheless: The July issues are out and there are 2 UK magazines giving away free polishes! First up, Harper’s Bazaar are offering a free Leighton Denny polish and top coat from the Gelato collection. And secondly, Marie Claire are offering a Ciaté mini polish and caviar set. Both brands are worth picking up at such a discount, and even if you’re not a fan of women’s glossy mags, they can be really handy for picking up nail inspiration.
Also, while we’re on the topic of bargains, Boots are still offering Buy One Get The Second Half Price on all Maybelline cosmetics. Regular readers of my twitter feed will know I am a massive fan of the Maybelline Color Show range, and many stores still have the limited edition Polka Dots collection in stock, so run and grab them for mere pennies while supplies last!

Today’s nails are Aztec, by Accessorize. This polish is a delightful glittery purple/green duochrome. It’s a wonderful shade, and the colour flip is really obvious even in low light, though the polish itself is rather thin and sheer. I needed 4 coats to build full coverage, having said that, I think it would look great as a single coat over a black or dark purple opaque. This polish is available for £3.45 at UK Superdrug (in store or online), where there is currently a deal offering 3 for 2 on all cosmetics!
I’d like to say this will be both the first and last time I will ever upload a picture from my lousy phonecam, but please be patient. I’ll be pulling some updates from my archives and there may be some lousy photography in the future.
Anyway, thanks for checking me out, hope to see you back again!
